Saint James’ Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.
The Saint James’ Stephen Ministers are lay members who have been carefully selected and have received 50 hours of training to provide emotional and spiritual care to an individual facing a crises or difficulties. Some of those challenges may be: illness or loss of a loved one, unemployment or job change, divorce or separation, spiritual crises, new child, or loneliness or discouragement.
Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry. The identity of those receiving care and what takes place in each caring relationship remain private.
Stephen Leaders are trained leaders of the congregation who help direct the Stephen Ministry program that meets the first and third Thursdays of each month.
Stephen Ministry Multiplies Ministry. By assisting the pastors who are always on the front lines of care, especially during times of crisis, Stephen Ministers provide the extended support and care as it is needed.
