Visitors and New Member Ministry
This committee seeks to welcome visitors and new members into the St. James’ church family.
Yellow gift bags are assembled for each visitor that contain a letter from the rector, a ministry brochure, and tracts as well as a homemade mini loaf of bread and a small jar of honey. The gift bags are distributed after each service by volunteer greeters who rotate.
A member of the committee receives info from the yellow visitor cards that are filled out each Sunday. A handwritten note is sent to each visitor, and the visitor is called if they indicated on the card that they would like to receive a call. The information is also provided to the rector.
Twice a year there is a newcomer dinner. It might be a cookout or a chili supper, and the newcomers have time to visit with ministry leaders and others parish members.
