OPPORTUNITY FUND
The St. James' Opportunity Fund was established as an endowment by which new ministries
would have a financial base now and in the future. The task force set an initial financial goal, which when met would the point at which we'd begin using the fund's interest for grants. The task force, which is a sub-committee of the Finance Committee, also worked very hard to create guidelines and restrictions on the management of the funds.
In 2006, the first financial goal was met.
Therefore, in 2007, we will begin a process of evaluating projects, ministries, and services in order
to determine whom we may support. An application process will be in place so that anyone interested in receiving money from the Opportunity Fund will be able to make a request. When the requests are received, the committee will begin evaluating and making recommendations. The Finance Committee and the Vestry will then review the recommendations and make a decision.
The Opportunity Fund is going to be an excellent way to "Feed and Tend God's Sheep" both inside and outside the parish. Please let any of us know if you have questions or concerns.
