John Mark Wiggers is a graduate of Baylor University and The General Theological Seminary. He has served at the Church of the Nativity in Dothan, Ala., and at The Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta, Ga. In the Diocese of East Tennessee he serves on the Commission on Ministry, and the board of directors for Grace Point Camp and Conference Center.
His hobbies are reading, writing, coffee, and cooking. He enjoys sharing those things with his wife and children (well, no coffee for the kids). Fr. John Mark is always open to have a cup of coffee and listen to the faith journeys of others, and to share his own.
John Mark joined the community at St. James on Aug. 30, 2009, and hopes to share ministry in Knoxville for years to come. The diversity of St. James, coupled with a commitment to outreach attracted John Mark and his wife Liz to St. James. Fr. John Mark emphasizes that St. James is a place where all are welcome to know the love of Christ.
If he had to give himself a label it would be “Liberal Anglo-Catholic Evangelical Idealist with melancholy tendencies.” He was licensed to preach in the Southern Baptist Church at age 14, and has been doing so ever since.
