Welcome Deborah Hyde!

Our new Business Manager joined the St. James' staff in March. She is a Knoxville native who grew up in the United Methodist church, but attended the Episcopal Church of the Ascension for about 10 years.  She has prior experience as the Financial Administrator for a smaller church and is familiar with the business administration of a church.

Deborah has an MBA from UTK and 12 years of experience working for Fortune 500 companies in purchasing and strategic business development. She sees her position as the Business Manager for St. James as an opportunity to use her skills as a meaningful ministry.

She has one child, a four-and-a-half-year-old son named Luka.

Coffee so good they named a Martian crater after it: yes, really!

coffee cup photo.jpg

To help raise money for our next Habitat for Humanity house, the Saint James Men's Group is now selling delicious coffee roasted locally by The Golden Roast.

The 1 lb. bags sell for a very reasonable $10 each, with nearly half the price of each bag going directly to Habitat for Humanity.  Coffee is available in three varieties --Sumatran, Ethiopian, and a Decaf blend -- and may be bought ground or as whole beans.  Coffee may be purchased at church, ordered through any member of the men's group, or contact Chris Hurt at cs_hurt@hotmail.com>

Please support this great cause!  And the bit about the Martian crater? Read all about it in this Metropulse article!

Kick-off for Rector Search

On April 16, a crowd of St. James folk welcomed The Reverend Steve Askew, Canon to the Ordinary, who led us in an informational session as we begin our rector search.  Click here to see photos of our evening together!

The Vestry at St. James is committed to keeping the parish updated as the search process progresses.  Information will be posted on the bulletin board and on this website.  Be sure to check back often!

Prayer Requests

St. James is a praying church. If you have a prayer request, please let us know.  You may do so by completing a gray prayer card (in your pew) for requests.  New requests remain on our prayer list for one month.  You may call or email the church office to ask that prayers be continued or to have someone removed.  Emergency prayers can be requested by contacting the church office. The office will contact the Daughters of the King, who have an emergency prayer chain. The DOK sisters also pray daily for those who are shut in, need healing or are in the military. You may find the prayer list in the narthex, or contact  Mary Nelle Osborne
