- Everyone knows the doors at St. James are always “open” to our neighbors from the standpoint of inclusivity. They are, however, appropriately closed and secured when no one is around. Recently, some of the hardware on some of our doors was replaced to improve building security.
- A new energy efficient LED street light fixture has been installed on the telephone pole adjacent to the dumpster at the southwest corner of our lot. Strategically placed to flood the rear lot with abundant lighting, it will improve safety after dark and discourage “camping” related activities.
- A couple of months ago we discovered our secondary water meter, the one that tracks water used to irrigate the memorial garden, had not been working for the last few years. Now, it has been replaced and we will soon be receiving appropriate “credits” on our water bill.
- The underground fixtures in our memorial garden sprinkler & soaking system have finally worn out and have been replaced with new fixtures with improved technology and are expected to last a very long time into our second centennial.
- Accent lighting in our memorial garden is an important feature that contributes to its overall ambiance, peacefulness, and safety. As our garden has matured over the years, many of the components of our lighting system have failed. For that reason, the low-voltage lighting system in our memorial garden is currently being replaced and slightly repositioned.
- With helpful assistance provided by PM Landscaping, several trees, shrubs & hedges around the perimeter of our buildings have been pruned to help control pest infestation and improve safety. The folks at PM Landscaping really do a great job and provide a wonderful lift to our hardworking St. Francis Guild.
Special thanks to everyone who regularly assists in picking up groceries & other supplies from Sam’s Club for our outreach ministries, including Mark & Susan A, Hoyt & Marilyn C, Patty C, Kevin & Drew J-P, Nancy P, and Mark R, among others.
