Friends and Neighbors,
Many of you turned out for the Justice Knox Celebration on Monday night. St. James was recognized for turning out 130% of our average worship attendance to the Nehemiah Action in April. Wow! That is amazing and just reminds me that this ministry resonates with so many of us. I want to encourage you to make a donation to the work at this link. Your gift helps the organization train volunteers and pay staff who work together to address community challenges with just solutions.
Whether it is Justice Knox, Sunday liturgy, or feeding a neighbor, I am glad to be sharing ministry with others. I know that I need that connection and the support of others who encourage and challenge me. A parish can be that place of connection and challenge for us. We welcome all to come and receive the welcoming love of God, and we are sent forth empowered to share that love. Your presence matters in this community.
Summer might be a good time to explore how you practice that presence. Maybe you would like to try out reading the lessons, serving as an acolyte or eucharistic minister, or helping out with tending the grounds. Reach out to me or a ministry leader if you want to explore some of those ministries or others. We make this community together as we bring our varied gifts to our ministry of sharing God's love.
Thanks for your presence, which reveals the presence of Christ to others.
Peace,
Fr. John Mark
