Dear Friends,
I was delighted to see so many of you at the Nehemiah Action on Monday night. Justice Knox came together and got commitments from community leaders to pursue micro-transit, implement restorative practice in schools, and to explore resources to interrupt gun violence. Your presence mattered. We were not sure if all the officials would answer positively. Your presence mattered.
Not only do we do justice at St. James, we are also about the work of showing mercy and practicing faithfulness. Most of our opportunities for study are meeting in person again. We also continue to feed and serve our neighbors. Your presence matters there as well. Thank you also for the generosity in giving. Your giving helps us continue to support and do ministry.
Planning continues as we prepare for our Centennial. Our Capital Campaign Committee is reviewing plans for building renovation. We will also be forming a Centennial Celebration Committee to help us find ways to gather and celebrate. We do love a good party! We will announce the plans on June 19. Pray for our church as we move into the next 100 years. Consider what your household can pledge to this project over the next 3-5 years. Celebrate our community that continues to feed and tend God's sheep.
Peace,
Fr. John Mark
